FAQS

What’s the cost per square meter?

Most small dome builds fall between $300–$700 USD per square meter, including foundation, finishes, and labor. If you’re building yourself, costs can be even lower—many of our DIY builders keep costs well below this range.

What does a typical project cost?

That depends on your design, location, and how hands-on you want to be. Single guest houses can be built for as little as $10,000–$20,000 in materials, while multi-dome family homes or boutique retreat spaces can range upward depending on complexity and finish.  Aircrete offers exceptional value for your money invested, making it easy to create something beautiful and high-quality compared to conventional materials.

Do I need special permits to build?

That varies by region. Because Aircrete isn’t part of every building code yet, some areas may require engineering approval. We offer structural engineering and guidance and can assist with plan customization for permitting needs.

Can I build multiple stories with Aircrete?

Yes, but we focus mostly on single story buildings.  You can incorporate lofts, and second floors supported by internal walls and with the right engineering you can build multiple stories.

How big can I build with Aircrete?

There’s no specific size limit. You can scale domes larger, link multiple domes together, and create multi-function structures—from simple studios to resort compounds.

Can I build this myself?

Definitely. Our tools and courses are designed for beginners and solo builders. Many of our most successful projects were built by first-timers with small crews and minimal equipment.

Do I need to follow your floor plans exactly?

Not at all. Our plans are designed to be flexible and customizable. Use them as a starting point and adapt to your needs—or work with us to design something entirely custom.

Can I build off-grid?

Yes. Aircrete is ideal for remote and off-grid locations thanks to its light weight, minimal tools, and natural insulation. Many of our builders use solar, composting toilets, and rain catchment systems.

Is it suitable for all climates?

Aircrete performs exceptionally well in hot, cold, dry, and humid conditions. It resists mold, pests, and rot, and its insulating and thermal mass values keeps indoor temperatures stable year-round.

Can Aircrete be used for more than just domes?

Yes. While we specialize in domes and arches, Aircrete can also be used for straight walls, sheds, and hybrid structures. It’s a versatile building material with a wide range of applications.

Can I see more examples of finished domes?

Of course. Scroll up to see our galleries on this page, or check out our Instagram and YouTube channels for time-lapses, walkthroughs, and community builds.
